What Is The ADAM Award (Accepting Differences Among Mankind)?

The ADAM award was established to honor the life of Adam Duke, son of Alva and Mark Duke of Franklin, TN. Adam Duke was born with Down syndrome and although his life did not last long, his memory and impact on the world will forever be felt. In 1981, Alva founded Kids on the Block to both honor Adam’s life and because she wanted to help kids learn to be accepting of each other regardless of their differences. This award is given annually, in memory of Adam Duke, to the individual who has consistently “gone the extra mile” to promote the importance of Accepting Differences Among Mankind (ADAM).

History Of The ADAM Award

In 2006, Kids on the Block merged with STARS Nashville. This has been a beautiful marriage of two programs trying to do all they can to help young people and their families embrace their potential. In 2012, we merged the Chair-ish the Kids Event (previously a Kids on the Block fundraiser) with An Evening with Vince Gill & Friends into one spectacular event, Chair-ish the Night with Vince Gill & Friends!

Last year’s Chair-ish The Night With Vince Gill & Friends event, Christopher Truelove accepted the ADAM Award for Carrie Goodwin
