STARS — Students Taking a Right Stand
STARS exists to serve schools and communities by providing prevention, intervention and treatment services addressing bullying, substance abuse, violence, and social and emotional barriers to success.

Youth Overcoming Drug Abuse (YODA)

Through STARS work in the schools one truth has become apparent - the generational cycle of drug abuse and addiction is a reality and impact from the problems of adults is evident in their children.

In response, STARS has begun clinical services for youth ages 13-22 under the Youth Overcoming Drug Abuse (YODA) program that provides case management, intensive outpatient groups and individual counseling services for uninsured youth with substance abuse problems and their families. The participants of the YODA program include:

Youth who have substance abuse problems and

  • are uninsured or have exhausted their insurance benefits for treatment
  • may be in DCS custody
  • may be juvenile probationers
  • have been court ordered to complete IOP treatment or assessment
