PeaceJam 2013 Mid-South Affiliate – STARS & Belmont University

JOIN US JANUARY 26-27, 2013 FOR A LIFE-CHANGING WEEKEND!

Youth ages 13-18 are invited to spend two days with an amazing Nobel Peace Prize winner, college-age mentors, and 300 youth leaders from around the region at the new PeaceJam Mid-South Youth Conference! Don’t miss the opportunity for your students to participate!

Shirin Ebadi, 2003 Nobel Laureate
In 2003, Shirin Ebadi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts towards protecting women’s and children’s rights in Iran and across the Middle East — for young women like Malala who was shot in Pakistan for just going to school!

Dr. Ebadi was the first female judge in Iran at the age of 24! Despite death threats and imprisonment, she has worked tirelessly to defend women and children in Iran. Because of her work, she was forced leave her country in June 2009, and has been unable to return home or to see her husband since. She continues to work for human rights around the world.  Read more about Dr. Shirin Ebadi by clicking here.

THE INFO:
When: January 26-27, 2013
Where: Belmont University
Cost: $90 per person
Early Registration Deadline: December 21, 2012*
Final Deadline: January 11, 2013

The conference is open to youth ages 13-18 and youth must be accompanied by an Adult Advisor (parent, teacher, etc).  Training for Adult Advisors is available online.  Each group will receive a curriculum on Dr. Ebadi’s life and work so they can learn about this amazing world leader before they arrive. Youth will also have the opportunity to present their service/volunteer projects to Dr. Ebadi during the conference weekend!
