Senior Program Manager

In addition to being a Senior Program Manager, Matt is a SAP counselor and trainer. He provides direct service to multiple schools and manages our services in Wilson County. Matt is also a certified Prevention Specialist through the state of Tennessee.

Before coming to STARS, Matt was the program director at a group home for children in the state’s custody in Franklin, TN. Matt came to STARS in 2000. Since then, he has provided direct counseling and other student support services to over 20 schools in multiple counties.

In addition, Matt facilitates trainings, workshops, and presentations for mental health professionals, teachers, administrators, parents, students, and the community. For several years, he was also a consultant and trainer with the STARS program “Partners” which focused on helping schools create a framework and atmosphere that encourages social-emotional learning.

Matt also helped develop materials for the Tennessee Youth Engagement Summits and our “Move2Stand” program. He is a certified trainer of trainers with the following: “Olweus Bullying Program”, “True North”, and “Restorative Practices. Matt holds a master’s degree in Human Services/Counseling.

In his free time, you’ll find Matt at live concerts and events, creating music, spending time with his friends and family, or hanging out with his dog.
